Update
Just a quick update on "hives". With so much "heavier" issues happening with other SOTHS, I will be brief because in the big picture, I can deal with this.
Saw Dr. - worst visit ever - she obviously was in a hurry and really didn't have time for my "silly ole visit". She took one look at my arms and said, it's hives....take Benadryl. I told her I had been - seemed to be getting worse along with some "weird aches" - okay so she told me to take Claritin & Zantac because they had special inhibitors that would take it away. She also gave me Prednisone (short term dose) only because I thought I needed it since I had been fooling with this for 2 weeks.....well I decided to do my own experiment....I eat oatmeal with walnuts every morning - I cut out the walnuts because midday, the rash/hives would increase.....I have developed late in life food allergies so it's worth a shot....the rash has gotton better -I changed my laundry detergent, soap, etc to no scent and I'm going from there.
Anyway, hopefully it's on the way out (don't know what made it come in) but the Dr. didn't seem interested in doing any further tests....crossing my fingers, it's gone.
I am praying for each of you. My heart is heavy and hurts with each of you. Sending hugs and much love today. Vicki

Hi Vicki.
Allergies can begin any time throughout the life span. Lisa loved bacon. She began to suffer from hives - it took awhile to realize that she had a pork allergy. I am not impressed with your doctor\'s response. You are the right track!
Having said that, I am itching. It started on the plane on the way home. I think the people on the plane thought I had fleas! I am hoping it is just the change in humidity - dry skin. If not I will be following your lead!
Love and hugs, Marlene
sending prayers that you get relief from those hives.... yuk!!! love ya!
Shame on your doctor. Hope your plan works. Sue xo
Vicki, I am thinking of you too. Thank you for your sweet message. Keep hanging in there!
I\'m sorry your appointment didn\'t go well. Hives can make you so miserable. Praying you get relief soon. Paula
Hi Vicki,
I had a short-haired terrier/ dachshund mix in h.s. Petting & playing w/ him would make me break out in hives on my arms & legs, sometimes face too. He was the only animal I\'ve ever been allergic to. Boy, were those hives ITCHY!
I hope YOUR case of hives goes away soon, so you don\'t have to sit & scratch all weekend!!!
Hugs,
Donna
Not that I\'m a dermatology nurse but my friend who is, has commented some patients may never figure out the trigger. You have to break the episode. They treat with an injection, then topical or oral meds. too.
The Dr. you saw was a poor excuse for her profession. How uncaring can she get. I hope you feel better soon.
I agree with everyone, bad doctor. You might have gotten it right about the nuts. They are very allergic. Hoping you are getting continued relief. Hugs. Kathy
Vicki, my older daughter has a similar problem. Since she was 16, she got huge, painful absesses al over her body. We have spent lots of money on different doctors and different meds, but nothing helped. Eventually she discovered that she is allergic to certain foods, (mainly dairy products), and also scented and coloured soaps and shampoo\'s, deodorants and body creams. The doctors also didn\'t care about her problem, I guess they were too busy with the other easier cases.
I\'m so glad that you eventually figured it out by yourself, Vicki. Well done!! Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Lots of hugs! xxx
Looks like your on the right track in resolving this hives problem. I hope they clear up completely for good!
May you have a peaceful and happy hive-free weekend!
Love,
Diane
I can no longer eat pecans. I get a rash with little sore all over my scalp. I feel you. By the way no issue is little. They are relative.
I have suffered with \"mystery rashes\" for several years. After many doctors, emergency room visits and various medications, I still have no idea why I get them. It is so frustrating. I think you are right. We are our own best doctors, because we care, lol...
Hugs to you and well wishes for improved health. :-)
Hoping you figure it all out and the hives are gone soon. And I agree, the doctor should be interested in ANY problem we bring to them. We pay the same bill at the end of the visit!!
Hoping its on its way out and each of needs to feel heard and cared for when in a doctor\'s office. Like what Teri said about paying the same bill at the end.
Loving care my friend and never a \"small\" problem when It is something we are having to work through.
XO Joanie
