Saturday Morning

Hello SOTH - It's Saturday morning and before I go to work (per diem triaging hospice calls from families) I thought I would write a few words to my friends.
I'm back at work full swing at Park View Middle School as the nurse. WE have almost 1000 students so this year I am so busy with various complaints....kids just don't know how good they have it! But a mosquito bite can be just devastating!!!! LOL A really good friend is also a nurse at another school and she was telling me about a 4th grade little girl who didn't want to come to school. She is being raised with a single dad (not sure where mom is)...The other morning before school, she told her dad "no" on school today. Well, he put her in the car and as he was getting out of the car in the parking lot of the school, she also got out of the car BUT sat down in the parking lot, removing her shoes and underwear throwing them both at her dad. Of course he was mortified....so he picked her up brought her to the health office where he left for work, she put her shoes and underwear on and skipped off to class and was fine all day.....I smiled only because it didn't happen to me.....
The story reminded me of my Jennifer - in that she could be very stubborn....Combing her hair was often a huge undertaking. One day it was time to comb her hair and she decided at age 3 that, that was not going to happen....for 45 minutes she screamed because she wanted to ride her hot wheels but needed her hair combed.....After 45 minutes she stopped as quickly as she started, we combed her hair and off she went on the driveway with her hot wheels....AWWW those memories......miss you Jennifer!!!
It will soon be 9 months since not talking to my daughter---SIGH....still have my days I just can't believe it....I will never be the same, changed forever. Love you, Jennifer.

I am glad that you are back to work. It seems that being busy helps take us out of our own heads...I just read that in my Thirty Days to Thrive email. It is a series from Casting Crowns....I am still thinking of you often. Love, Lauri

I know for me work kept my mind from wondering off and getting more depressed. I do hope all the new memories you are making like this story will make you smile and think of the good times you had with your daughter.

No wonder it took a long time to comb/brush her hair! It\'s so thick & pretty! Sigh...

I was a school secretary when my body betrayed me! I know about all the fun you have because sometimes we only had a nurse one day a week. I can spot lice in an instant and there is that certain smell and/or rash with strep. I remember one girl coming to the office for a sanitary napkin and 10 minutes later her best friend started her period too. What can you do? I miss my job but you brought some of those sweet memories. Thank you.

It is so hard when a mother loses a child. It is a forever thing but the moms here are wonderful, as I am sure you know already. May this year be a gentle one and yes, there will always be those sighs!
Hugs,

You are actively engaged when doing this kind of work and you must continue to share your stories as I\'m like Leda with the memories myself. I taught school on the elementary level for 25 years and I will never forget one of my students beginning her period and her mom had packed pads for her and she got into her backpack and walked out the door swinging it all around. LOL! I have shared this other story before yet it\'s in my \"top ten.\" One of my fourth graders for show and tell built a space ship out of his mom\'s tampons. I asked what his parents had thought of his show and tell and he said, \"Oh, my mom is out of town and my dad is in charge.\" LOL! That said it all! :)

Love the story about Jennifer and her hair and Douglas loved his hot wheels too and couldn\'t deal with his hair so began shaving it off when he could. :)

Loving care your way dear Vicki and appreciate reading your journal today, thank you.

The memories. There was a time I would get angry when people talked of memories of Lisa. I didn\'t want memories; I wanted Lisa. I still do but now I also cherish the memories.
Lisa had a stubborn streak too. However she came by it honestly - that was the Finnish side of her and we Finns are known for our stubbornness. We even have a word for it \"SIsu\". When Lisa was a young teen, she got mad at me and was determined to go out. I was determined she wouldn\'t. I grabbed the sleeve of her jacket and hung on. It ripped. Her comment was \"Now look what you\'ve done\". She stayed home.
Love and hugs,
Marlene

What a wonderful journal !! I could just immagine that dad\'s face, when his daughter threw her underware and shoes. The thought gave me my first smile of the day. Keep those stories coming :)

When I was in elementary school, I went to a small private religious school. There was a student who had a horrible attendance records, each morning we\'d see her mothers car, and they\'d be in it arguing about if she\'d get out and go to school or now. Usually my mom would ask at dinner, well who won today MF or her mom !! Like I would have gotten away with that (my mom was a teacher...lol)
