What a wonderful way to start the day--a fellow teacher brought me a prayer shawl that his church group had made. I had no idea that the Presbeterian church had a group of women that made prayer shawls. I feel so very special that the group included me! There is a beautiful card attached to the afghan (shawl) and it tells of the prayers that they said while knitting it. It is in browns and greens and beiges and is absolutely gorgeous. I do love it so!I went down to the ED room today to tell Danielle that I would probably keep the internship on hold, but lo and behold, she was busy and the kids in the room actually seemed pretty happy to see me and...well, I guess I'm back in the groove. Jack is working at Hardee's--excellent schedule thus far--just a few hours per week and I hope it stays that way. I don't want him to get tired of his job nor do I want him to earn too much money. Just more to spend on things he doesn't need. Jack had a really bad bloody nose tonight, but we did get it stopped with an ice pack. The bathroom sink was full of blood as was his shirt. He even asked us to take him to the hospital as I think the amount of blood really scared him. I was definitely concerned, but we did get it stopped. Not much else to say...school is going fine. Midquarters already this Friday. I am using the Love and Logic approach to behavior and it is working well. It is basically common sense and getting kids to bear the responsibility and be accountable--which is how we want them to grow up. Sometimes I really like teaching and sometimes I do not. I think, though, I am learning not to get so stressed out. I'm also learning not to be such a perfectionist! For the first time in my 27 years of teaching, I am keeping a short activity log of every day as to what I did in my classes. I have never taught my class the same ever...keep creating new assignments, adding new ideas, always looking for the best methods, etc. No more. I've created so, so much and it's good stuff! I'm not going to close myself off to new ideas, but I am going to try to actually follow next semester what I am doing this semester. It  will be interesting to see how it goes. I am hoping that the log will save me oodles of time in the long run. I'll have to wait and see. For now, just get through this first semester. Off to correct papers. Got caught up with English class, now have a lot of papers for my speech classes to go through. Teaching would be so much more satisfying if not for all of the papers to correct! Writing is the worst to correct and most of what I correct is written. Yuk. I love to write, myself, and think I am a pretty decent writer when I want to be, but correcting writing is a completely different deal!  O.K. Michelle, stop stalling! Thank-you, all of my friends, for your support. I feel so very, very blessed this evening. This prayer shawl has touched me deeply and provided strength. How wonderful it is that another church community reached out to me! I feel very, very special. To think, if I didn't have MS, I wouldn't have received this and the beautiful thoughts and prayers that came with it.
