Blood Sugar = 142. This is rather high considering the fact that I have not consumed that many carbs today. I took it again--same results--141. Hmmmm....I wonder if the heat affects blood sugar? Or maybe it's because I haven't had enough to eat? But wouldn't I be low then? Blood sugar has been so good this week, but this number is higher than I'd like to see it. Interesting--yesterday no Janumet and lower blood sugar. Today I took my Janumet (had prescription refilled finally) and higher blood sugar. I should have taken it again a couple of hours later, but didn't. Instead, I took a very, very long nap! Ah, that was so needed. Wow, the heat was nearly unbearable today. In the 90's with very high humidity. I could barely finish hanging my clothes out on the line as I felt so ill--nausea, heaviness, dizzy, weakness. I think that the heat affected me more today than it ever has...I felt like I was getting heat stroke (although I'm not sure what heat stroke feels like). I need to be more careful when the heat and humidity are this high. It sounds like the rest of the week will be similar temperature wise.I think that the family counseling is making a difference as J's attitude and behavior are markedly improved! He's still staying up all night and sleeping most of the day (typical teen behavior?), but his attitude toward me and behavior has been respectful and even pleasant at times. I so hope that this continues. I am not afraid of him when he is like this. I actually feel like his mother and enjoy him. I want to do things for him when he is like this. I hope that it continues...I am going to the lake tomorrow. Mary, Kent, and Mom will be there. It will be great to be with my siblings, well two of them anyway, before the rest of the family gets there. Mike and Jack will drive up on Friday afternoon as well as Adam and Britani. Aaron will join us Saturday evening I believe. All of my sons will be there as well as all siblings, nieces, nephews, etc. I can't wait! I am glad, however, for the opportunity to arrive a couple of days before everyone else arrives as it will give me time to spend with Mary and Kent. I just realized...the three of us are the ones in the family with mental health issues--depression or bipolar. I talked to the ladies who work at the vet clinic today and found out that what I fear regarding Maxie is probably true--he likely does have a collapsing trachea (not uncommon with his breed) and there really isn't anything that can be done for it unless I travel to a different state where he would undergo a surgical procedure and rings would be put into his trachea surgically. I doubt that this would be affordable and I don't have pet health insurance. I guess I will wait to see what the vet says--he goes in a week from Thursday. I so hope that I am wrong--I dearly love my petite pet. I have never felt like this about a dog before--ever. I didn't know the depth of feelings one could have for an animal until Maxie came into my life. He means the world to me. I am taking my laptop with me to the lake, but whether or not I will use it remains to be seen. I do need to create curriculum for the new class I will be teaching. Geez, school starts on the 23rd of August and teachers start on the 20th. It seems like we start school earlier every year. I wish we didn't start until after Labor Day, like most states. Our school board has the discretion to decide when they want to start and each year it seems like we lose more of August. I'd rather have more of August for break and go longer in May. But, my opinion is just that--my opinion! : )
