52 years
Hard to believe. Joe and I are 'celebrating' 52 years of the best and the worst of times. It is hard to believe because I really don't feel this old - until I look in the mirror!
I can honestly say that I am thankful for the love of my life. I have no idea where I'd be without him. I would never have had the courage to teach and travel to all the fantastic places we've lived. I am a wimp. If not for Joe telling me "If that's what you want, then go for it". I applied for jobs I didn't feel qualified for, and got them. I went to university with the expectation of dropping out - and I didn't. I moved to Calgary 2 years before Joe (he had 2 years to go to retirement) because he encouraged me. He believed in me more than I did. In fact, for 4 months he lived in Italy and I in the Czech Republic! And we are still together. We joke that we never divorced because we couldn't afford it! If that is the case, I am glad we were broke.
I would never ever have survived losing Lisa if it weren't for Joe. As I said, we've had the best of times and the worst of times.
