I'm off to a wedding reception this evening.

An old friend I used to work with is getting married and there will be lots of people there that I used to work with. Will that be fun? Everyone I know has a partner, except me. The conversations will revolve around men telling me I'm lucky because there's no-one else in the house to boss me around, and the women enquiring as to why I haven't managed to find someone new & interesting to settle down with yet.  I suppose they'll be mapping their own aspirations on to me, wishing for me what they (secretly) wish for themselves.

pg_1591389941.jpgMany people you meet assume that living alone means you're lonely. Sure I have good days and bad days like all the rest of us, but I like to think the good days outnumber the bad. Maybe the bad days are the side of me that misses coming home to someone I can hug and explain to how bad work was, or not being able to suggest a spur of the moment walk in the rain together? Maybe the good days are the side of me that says I can do exactly as I please, that if I don't want to do the housework I don't have to?

What if I've got it all wrong? Perhaps I need to stop doing the washing up until I run out of things to eat off? Maybe next time it's raining and I see someone walk by I should rush out and walk along with them, telling them how lousy work is?

Sounds like the perfect way to get labelled as a bit strange and locked up! =;o)

...and I still don't know whether or not I enjoy wedding receptions!

Hey receptions are fun especially if you can get a free meal. I\'ve been to 4 weddings in the last two weeks. I know the questions of course are a real pain. Most asked of me were, \"I thought you were dead\", no just came close.

I have to admit it was a fun reception - lovely location (an old manor house set in medieval gardens), lots of people, oh and yes I got a free meal =;o) Stiil the familiar conversations about \"How come you haven\'t settled down after all these years?\" [Bangs head on wall] =;o)
