Say Boo! to the world...

My bedroom is nearing completion. I decided that I needed somewhere in the world that I could retreat to when I wanted to hide or simply take my brain off the hook. I had stripped the wallpaper but then the opportunity for my hand surgery came up which stopped me doing any more, so... I treated myself and got a decorator in. A very cosmopolitan chap called Alan who rocked up in purple & orange stripey trousers and a smock top who advertised himself as a 'funky' interior decorator. While I had already chosen the colour scheme, he gave me some good advice about arrangement and so I booked his services.

A few weeks later and it's nearly there. All the woodwork is painted, the ceiling is painted and all the walls papered. A new radiator was fitted by a plumber friend of his, and the new carpet has now been fitted. Tomorrow I get the window replaced then in a week or so the blinds will arrive. Together with new linen for the bed and getting rid of some of the furniture to make more space, I think I'm nearly there. I have to say, Alan did a fantastic job and has wonderful attention to detail as well as a very reasonably view of costing his work.

I wish my small friend Wilma had been here to see it all take shape. She would have enjoyed sniffing the new smells and sunning herself on the otterman at the end of the bed, but sadly it wasn't to be. Even so, the little wooden box that bears her memory has a little corner all to itself, looking out on what will come to pass.pg_657632758.jpg

I feel more settled mentally than I have done of late, although my body seems to be rebelling in every which way. My blood sugar has been on a roller-coaster ride these last few weeks, and last night I had an asthma attack the like of which I've not seen in many years. My hand also demands my attention by burning sharp sensations into my waking day but I have to look forward. At some point I feel I need to say Boo! to the world... "Here I am" and as someone who's friends describe him as fairly shy and retiring, it amuses and intrigues me as to what is going on.

There's this seed of an idea in my head that the island of Tonga is about as far away as it is possible to get on this planet from where I am now, and where I have spent most of my life, ie the UK. If I could only figure out why this idea keeps popping into my head?
