5 Years Today

January 31, 2012: The 5-year anniversary of the departing from this world of Mark Lee Kuhlman, such a re-Mark-able man, his daughter's loving father, my sisters' and my devoted brother, my parents' devoted son, a man of so many talents, a need for speed, a caring, selfless, generous friend to so many. A day of reflection on this unique and wonderful individual: What does it mean, Mark, this thing we call life? You fell from this world but rose in the next. Are we all but passing vessels, wisps of wind, who bring each other such joy and laughter when we're in each other's presence, a time all-too short, and then leave each other in a dry, dusty void, to be reunited again someday, meanwhile sorely missed in the sting of parting that we call a transition, when we can no longer communicate with each other, except by the gentle tugs and squeezes of the heart we give each other on anniversary dates like this one? Doesn't make any sense, but little do we mortals know. After you departed, your sisters gave birth to sons! Hmmm...the Lord works in mysterious ways. These little guys'll never be a replacement for you, but they are delightful, fun, and soothe the aching heart. Perhaps you're dropping in on them time and again, guiding them as an angel? My hopes are that you are happy with the one who made you, and anyone that you knew here who passed on before you, as well as new friends you have made on the other side, and that you achieve any new destinies that you desire. I'll meet you again soon enough, hopefully after I've achieved all that I was supposed to fulfill here. Meanwhile, perhaps we'll see each other, in passing, or visit awhile, in our dreams! I love you and miss you, brother.
