Although we do try our best to stay healthy, we all do what we can to stay healthy, still, people are worried about being infected with diseases, particularly deadly one like cancer.

There were 14 million recent cases of cancer globally in 2012 according to the National Cancer Institute. It is estimated to rise to 22 million in the next two decades.

Though better methods of screening and treatments can save lives, several cancers are still life-threatening. The following list is cancers taken from Cheatsheet, Prevention and Publichealth that are still likely to kill people in 5 years of diagnosis.

  1. Pancreatic cancer

Your pancreas is a small, finger-shaped organ located behind your abdomen. It provides help with your digestion and secretes hormones such as insulin. Insulin works to control blood sugar levels as well as metabolism.

For pancreatic cancer, genetic is a risk factor. If you have a history of stomach problems diabetes, liver or cirrhosis, all of these conditions are associated with an increased risk of the disease occurring later in life.

Pancreatic cancer is a life-threatening disease although some new tests can help with early detection, mainly because it is hard to detect before it expands to other organs.

  1. Mesothelioma

Mesothelium is a thin tissue layer which wraps your heart, lungs, and many different organs. Mesothelioma is a tissue layer cancer just as implied by the name.

Exposure to asbestos accounts for 80% of mesothelioma cases, according to studies from Australia. For this reason, persons working in plumbing, asbestos removalist, construction or other construction activities are at higher risk.

Mesothelium symptoms range from chest pain, abdominal pain or bloating, and shortness of breath. The symptoms depend on the location of cancer.

  1. Lung cancer

At some point in men's lives, around one in 13 of them will get lung cancer. Make about 1 in 16 women. Doctors usually discover this cancer in people who are 65 years old or older.

Smoking is the leading cause. Breathing the smoke of another person ("passive smoking") is also a threat. If there is a family member of yours who smokes or if you are exposed to radon and certain other chemicals (arsenic, asbestos, chromium, tar nickel, cadmium, soot, and beryllium). People with HIV Lung cancer is more common being infected with lung cancer compared to those who do not have the virus. However, experts seem not to know why.

  1. Breast cancer

Breast cancer, which occurs mostly in milk ducts or mammary glands, impacts hundreds of thousands of women in the US. Every year it kills about 40,000. Compared to other cancers, survival rates increase dramatically if detected early. More than 98% of women survive five years when treatment begins while the cancer is localised.

  1. Liver and Intrahepatic Cancer

If there ever was a reason to reduce your alcohol intake, you will see liver cancer appear as number 5 on this list. The liver plays the most critical functions in the body. It processes what you eat and drink, and it removes toxins from the blood at the same time.  According to the American Liver Foundation liver cancer occurs when unhealthy organ cells grow and spread. Hepatitis B and C infections are linked tightly to liver cancer as they can also cause cirrhosis when healthy liver tissue is substituted by scar tissue.

Intrahepatic bile duct cancer happens when unhealthy cells exist in the channels inside the liver that remove waste according to Johns Hopkins Medicine. Based on the prediction of the ACS this year 40,710 new cases of hepatic and intrahepatic cancer will be diagnosed, and 28,920 cases will be proven to be fatal.
