oh - another thing - very important - that i want your help with. i won a prize (i think it's $2000) from a contest that i was in. (YAY!) according to the rules, i don't get the $2000 for myself, but i get to donate it to the health-related charity of my choice.anyone have any suggestions? i'm openminded on it. got something you're passionate about?

Doug,

If you are allowed to donate to DailyStrength, then do it....If you can\'t, I suggest donating the money to a shelter for battered women and children. I think the money with the help of loving volunteers would make a wonderful playground or playroom for the children of domestic violence....Most shelters are too full, and are so focused on the women (who certainly do need help). There is often very little to no help for the traumatized children....By helping these little ones find an outlet and skills to cope, the future benefits from $2,000.00 would be priceless.
Hugs and gratitude, Deborah

Well in light (no pun was intended) of the fires all around, I\'m sure there will be lots of families who need assistance/money as well as the shelters...OR DS as I agree with poetrywriter and thank you again for this site and your sensitivity. Now just for the fires to be extinguished!

How lovely to ask what DS\'s would like. Is bereavement considered health-related?? If so, then perhaps Our House located in Los Angeles would appreciate the donation. They are a non-profit agency providing groups for bereavement for all ages beginning with young children and school groups through very senior adults. Just a thought although there are so many worth-while health charities.

I posted a journal entry about a non profit org. per the email request... I think JDRF Juvenile diabetes research foundation would make a great place to donate. It\'s investing in the future of our kids, and with childhood obesity on the rise, it\'s sure to do some good helping them with research and awareness programs.
