ever had one of those moments where you're just overcome with emotion?i just had one. have had probably a dozen of 'em since we had kids, where i'm just floored with how quickly these kids have grown up, or where i'm at in my life, or i don't even know what. here's a theory: most folks are generally happy and enjoy their lives. i tend to be more pessimistic, and like a volcano, every once in a while the overall pleasure i get from my life just comes to the surface, releases, and then goes back into hiding for a few weeks. had 'back to school' night last night for K, and it was another one of those events where i'm starting to retrace my own childhood - i can remember how weird it was to be in school at night, and how proud i was to show off my school to my parents. in this case, K wasn't with us (she's only in kindergarten), but seeing her cubby, and her name on the wall, and this big place where she spends so much of her time independent of us is just, well, crazy.everything in my life is pretty great right now, and yet i too often fail to comprehend that or let it in. i suppose of all the 'life challenges' that i engage in on DS, that's the one that's probably the most important.i'm off on a biz trip next few days. will check in from the road. (maybe even bring my webcam!)d

Glad you are doing good. Those first years of school are so emotional, I cried when I dropped them off at school the first time, too. They grow up way too fast. My son turns 16 on Thursday. I just can\'t believe I have one driving age, although he is in no hurry to drive. He has a learners permit but in Michigan 50 hrs have to be logged before he can take the driving test. Maybe think of one thing you are thankful for everyday. It might just help lift those pessimist blues.
Sorry about the chain letter that was sent to you. I just thought it would be a good way to get to know you better.
Luv ya, Elaine

I get those moments all the time...mostly when I see you with either child. They are amazing and so are you.

It is an experience like no other, isn\'t it? To see your own child growing up and becoming a separate unique individual is a very moving thing. I get teary just thinking about how fast they grow up and I think you are a wise man to take time to reflect on what is important in your life and count your blessings. Our children are such gifts, aren\'t they? I think you must be a wonderful dad to have such insight and love. Big hug, Robbin

I can so relate. I have a box of momento\'s of my children growing up. One of the best was when Nicholas was mad at Jordan. He made me a homemade Mother\'s Day card with his brother conspicuously absent (but not the dog! LOL). I also have an envelope from Jordan when they both had time out one day. It said - \"Please Mom. Can we get out of our room? We promise to be good\". At the bottom were 2 crudely drawn squares to be checked off, YES or NO, lol. I checked off YES and kept the $1.43 that they used to bribe me with. These are the moments we live for.
