We just received our daughter's information packet for elementary school. The rules, the procedures...it all reminds me that she's getting older fast. Big kid school is a big deal...she'll be gone until 3pm each day, and I can feel the transfer of responsibility on to her shoulders as she discovers homework and separation from parents and the role of friends and independence and...ahh, i guess i should just stop. It's good for her, of course. I can remember being so nervous when I started school. It was such a big step and so bewildering...and then, of course, it became just normal within a couple of days. The short version: this is so exciting, sad, comforting and scary at the same time. How utterly strange these emotions are. These kids can mess with your brain!Cute moment of the day: Z and I are now playing soccer together (well, perhaps I should say that he kicks the ball and I return it). Of course, being 2, he doesn't always look at the ball, and he frequently trips over it as he tries to kick it. Smart Daddy that I am, I say "Z, you've got to keep your eye on the ball!" - so my wonderful, obedient son picks up the ball and touches it to his eye.

Awww, i remember those cute ball-to-eye moments ... they have changed to sisters purposely throwin the ball at each other.. lol! And the school days.. oh, i remember when the two kids had their first day of preschool (they were only in there for less than 3 hrs.) I cried and balled my eyes out the whole way home! My 5.5 yr old will be full day too, entering first grade. two kids that go to school from 8.30 to 2.45... what will I do with myself?!
It\'s nice to hear happy stories, from others, about their kiddies ... but it does also make me miss those days so much!
Have a good weekend!

Cute story about your son. My son (19)recently moved out & got his own apartment, and my daughter (17) got her driver\'s license 2 wks ago. Two hrs. later she was driving off the work by herself. I was standing in the driveway waving goodbye & it felt so strange. Seems like yesterday they were little & we were in the middle of school, sports, friends, bustling activity. Sometimes with all the activity it\'s easy to wish it would pass quickly. Colored chererios is right, savor the moment. :0)
