i had a very strange experience tonight that i wanted to write down before i forgot...
i've always had a soft spot for blind people. i see them walking down the street with their canes, or reading braille, and there's something in my heart that has always wanted to reach out and provide support.
honestly, however, i never do anything. i'm shy (although some of my friends might disagree), and i don't want to insult a blind person by offering to do something that they think they're capable of on their own. i'm much better at helping out from behind a computer.
so tonight, i was walking back to my hotel (i'm on a trip) with a friend, when a bus pulled up next to us, and an older blind woman emerged with her cane. it was immediately clear that she was lost, and it was 9pm at night. for once, i ignored my impulses and asked the woman if she needed help, and she quickly said yes. she grabbed my arm and we began to talk towards the hospital where it appeared she was staying.
within 30 seconds, it became apparent, however, that this woman was a bit, err, odd. she said that had been blind since 1989, but that she was going to be cured shortly, not by an operation, but by an exorcism which would remove the demons from her body. she then gave us a 5-minute story about doctors out to get her, priests and shamans (shamen?) who were battling it out for her soul, and so forth.
we led her to familiar territory and wished her good luck. she was very appreciative and totally nice. i wished her good luck with the exorcism, and went back to my hotel.

oh if cures for ailments were that easy..... good for you for following your gut even if the outcome was not what you expected....
Maybe this is why you don\'t often ask people if they need help. It\'ll probably be awhile before you ask again. No, but seriously, that was really nice of you to offer help. Do we have an exorcism community?
Sounds like this woman is in need of help mentally as well as physically. She may never have came to terms with her blindness. She may have let the hope of a cure manifest itself into a good versus evil thing. I have seen so many people out on the street that need so much help. (on many levels) You were right to help her to where she was going. You should never be afraid to offer help. It is a gift for you and the one you help. Lollie
I wish you would hold me when we go for walks. That was really nice of you Doug. Sorry about the scary stories but still great karma for doing a good deed.
I sure wish there was an exorcism for pain from losing a loved one. I would do it in a heart beat.On another note I work in the medical field. Some people refuse to believe things are final, because to do so means that there life as they knew it,is over. Even if things change it is hard to except for everyone. If you believe in God why can\'t this woman believe in the demons. Her demon seems to be not being able to see what she use to and for those demons I will pray for her.
Hey good for you for offering your help, sounds like she needed it, more than for a site problem. But don\'t be affraid to offer your help again, next person, might really need it, to actually get where they need to good. At least you were there for this person. Sounds like they needed someone with an ear to listen more than support them with their site issue.
that was great that u offered her some help
sometimes everyone gets caught up in their own life and forget about helping out someone that needs help
HUGSSSSSS

It\'s just like you to offer to help. You have such a warm heart.
Why would you pray for demons..I would never pray for demons.
DJH......
My father was born legally blind. He has a condidtion in which his optic nerve is deteriating. There is no surgery as of yet and to tell you the truth I don\'t give a darn if the man sees again. I do however hope that they will find a cure for the condition for those innocent people that deserve it. I believe in God. I believe He has reasons for what he chooses to do. But, I also believe that some of these people need help. And, so do I. But an explanation, or a similiar story of what they\'ve been through helps. It\'s kinda of a haven here. No matter what we all can relate to eachother. I thank you and those who are responsible for this site. With all Good some comes some bad. Just remember that. We all have bumps.. but in the end.. it will be smooth sailing.
What a funny story! similar to a experience I had with a deaf person. he was in the vestibule of a grocery store trying to flag people down, and they were all walking past him and ignoring him. I walked over and her handed me a piece of paper and asked If I would make a telephone call for him. \"O.K.\" It turned out, this deaf man repaired lawnmowers out of his home for income and wanted his client to know his mower was ready for pick up. The client asked me \"How do you know him?\",
\"I don\'t, he flaged me at a pay phone and asked me to call you.\"
\"OH! Wow, He said he\'d call me, and I wondered how he\'d do that! O.K.!\"
