it's a friday afternoon, and i'm working from home while kaya watches Peter Pan. she's got a fever, so she's getting the afternoon treat of watching a movie while most of the family is at the Promenade and daddy works from home.

she looks so beautiful right now - and that's not just because she's wearing a DailyStrength t-shirt (though it certainly helps)...she's in that sleepy, groggy yet happy mood that i'm just a sucker for.

so kaya got into the school that we (specifically, my wife) worked so hard to get her into. we're so proud of her, even though she has no idea that she was 'accepted', and we're also just amazed that this little girl is about to go to 'big kid' school. i feel like our window of time with this little girl is already closing...it won't be long until her idea of fun involves leaving to go to a friend's house. how wild to think that someone who has relied on us for so long will soon be itching to get away. it's like watching the cycle of life in action.

for now, i'll treasure every time she reaches out to hold my hand, every little thing that she explores and finds for the first time. she's starting to read now (which just blows our mind), and i try to hold the scene of her spelling out a word, mouthing the letters as she commits it to memory.

meanwhile, lil' mr. z has become a kid as well. he's talking non-stop, albeit with a super-cute pause between every word....(example: "daddy (pause) come" or "apapa (long pause) boat"...but speaking, he is. he now insists on getting out of the car himself ("self" he says), listening to raffi ("waffi!")...but generally he just seems to always be smiling and happy.

it's all good.
