hey everyone -

it's been a long, long time since i've written. i've been dying to write, and i've even sat down at the computer to do just that, but then i always find myself distracted...usually by something on the site that needs fixing or some member that needs help.

so, finally, i've got 10 minutes while everyone's out of the house to put some thoughts down as a kick off for 2007.

overall, 2006 was a very, very good year for my family and myself, and i suppose that leads to:

Resolution #1: Less Complaining. i find that people my age, and especially me, become soured on the world and expect the least of everything they encounter. have a great meal at a restaurant but they forgot your drink? that's the first thing i mention. it almost seems like i go fishing for the badness in a sea of goodness, and i need to step back, breathe, and realize that on the whole, things are actually quite good.

Resolution #2: Balance. i suppose this is more of a utopian goal to shoot for, but achieving a better mix of work/friends/family is always on my mind.

Resolution #3: Oh, that diet thing. About 2 months ago, I proclaimed to the world that i was going to lose weight - again. it went OK for a few months, and then i dropped the ball. why? the holidays put too much temptation in front of me, and my crazy schedule prevented me from exercising the way i wanted to. i've got a new workout that i'm digging - the Stairs (it's a set of 200+ stairs not too far from my house that i can do in 45 mins) - and i'm going to really focus on doing more exercise and less crap eating. maybe this time...

Resolution #4: Charity. i feel as if i'm a stingy person when it comes to charity. with some exceptions, i don't generally donate money to things, i've never really physically helped out at a foodbank or charity event, and that's starting to bug me as a get older. i hide behind the excuse that this site is a form of charity, and the work i've done in my professional life betters people's lives, but i'm starting to yearn for something that i can touch and see with my own eyes. that may take more than a year to come to fruition, but it feels good to get it out there.

i've probably got about 50 more resolutions, but that's a start. oh, one more:

Resolution #5: Write more. Communicate with friends more. Be a better friend.

ok, i'll step off the soapbox now. talk soon. hope y'all are having a good 2007.

Great resolutions! Meet you at the stairs? And then we can go grab an In & Out Burger?

I didn\'t see Mountain Biking as part of your exercise regime. But if you ever need a pal to go with just give a call! Good resolutions. I\'ve been thinking I need to do more with Charity as well. And please share Reolution #1 with my husband :)

First time you do the stairs run as fast as you can...I guarantee you\'ll pass out in the grass across the street. Have fun.

Life seems so very sweet for you. I would love to see that more appreciative side of you be right out front because you are so considerate and loving in your actions. Before you verbalize or think a negative thought, try to stop yourself to decide if that is really what you want to believe and is it so important. I guess it is as simple as trying to think the best of people or situations or trying to put yourself in their shoes.
