i need to get this out of me while i'm filled with it:
there is nothing on earth that's as wholly satisfying as tiptoeing into your child's room and watching them sleep.
i don't go in every night, as i like to keep it special and i'm always oddly scared that i'll wake them up, which will in turn knock the world of it's axis, as my kid is NOT SUPPOSED TO BE AWAKE at midnight, but when i do go in, it's like that little chocolate that's all wrapped up in the paper and it's just soooo good.
i just came out of k's room, where she (for once) has not kicked off her covers or completely turned herself upside down in bed. so i sat down on the bed next to her, and i just stare.
i think what i find so satisfying about these moments is that, for just a minute, i can sit without interruption and admire the results of all that that my wife and i have created. to just look about her room, to see her breathing, to see how big she's become and how much she now does on her own. there's a pride in her accomplishments too, to be sure, but how often can you just sit and stare at someone, admiring everything about them while they're at peace?

don\'t you feel the same when you look at the homepage of daily strength.
i know you are smiling now;)
You\'re such a great writer. You suck us into your world and make us feel like we\'re right there with you. The love you have for K and Z is so touching. And I couldn\'t agree with you more. I LOVE watching my children sleep. Except right now, I\'m watching Jason sleep and it\'s not quite the same. Don\'t get me wrong, he\'s cute and all but the cuteness quickly vanishes when a loud, startling snore nearly wakes up the kids and the dogs. Sweet Dreams!
I used to catch my dad doing the same thing to me, I acted as if I was asleep! Now I do the same thing to my son. HC hit the nail on the head, you are a wonderfull writer. You should consider writing a book about your expierences.
Amen.
wow I \'feel like a peeping lady\'..yes, you should start a \'small little Dad\'s feeings look\' One of those that sit at the check out at boarders books this time of year..your journals would be a great resource..thanks for sharing this special precious time.
Chrissy, you crack me up..

I loved to do this when my kids were little. I agree, there is nothing more satifying or enjoyable on earth. I read this and got teary thinking about my own and how fast they grew up! Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment. Enjoy every single minute of their childhood -they will be teens way too soon! Hugs, Robbin
I think that my girls look like angles when they are asleep. They ahve such a peace about them that I find contagious. Thanks for making me slow down and think of those times! Lollie

That was the most sweet thing I have ever heard a man say:) Do you have a brother? Your wife is a very lucky woman, if she doesn\'t believe it send her over to the divorce section of your website.LOL:)

I thought I was the only one who did that! Thanks for sharing - and giving those of us with children a reminder that no matter what else is going wrong, there will at least be that perfect moment of peace at night.
