and then, all of the sudden, i was 36.

that's weird. that's like your "late 30's". that's like "if you're gonna do something in this life, you better get doin' it". it's not that 36 is that old, but i've always secretly enjoyed the position of being the youngest in the room, and at 36, i think that feeling's starting to run a bit shallow.

meanwhile, life could not be better, or more hectic. i celebrated a mellow birthday with family and friends (which will continue on through tonight - my family has a way of drawing out birthdays into a week - or, in the case of my wife - month-long celebration). i have been so absolutely consumed with DailyStrength that it's been really hard to focus on anything else - for example, that diet i started talking about some weeks back, friends, etc.

My life these days is 3 things - DailyStrength, kids and wife - and while i don't think that's sustainable long-term (i NEED to exercise, i NEED to just hang out without working), i get tremendous satisfaction out of all 3. The kids are as cute as ever (despite Kaya's newfound paranoia about throwing up every 3rd meal), my wife just cooked me the world's best chicken parm plus my favorite pasta, and I get deep personal and professional satisfaction out of this site.

Meanwhile, issues on DailyStrength are starting to take some interesting turns that we hadn't thought about when we started the site. With size comes a whole host of issues, mostly from conflicts between users, or controversial topics, or, of course, the ever-present spammers.

Ok, enough blabbering...time to get back to work. I can't even begin to imagine where I'll be posting from at 37.

Ditto on Dr. O\'s comments! And Doug, if you only knew how young 36 really is... I would give anything to stay in my 30\'s but 40 is lurking around the dark, ugly corner and I keep trying to hide but I know it\'s going to find me eventually. Enjoy your 30\'s. Happy Birthday -- All Month Long.

1st of all Thank you for this site DJH. Even if we don\'t always say how much we appreciate it, I\'m sure you know it\'s helping. (Dr. O, thank you 2, 4 other reasons)
Next, 36, holly molly, enjoy it as much as you can. That is still VERY young. Try adding nearly 30 more years to that and being in love with a guy 12 years younger. Talk about depressing!
36!!! Don\'t complain, haha. Have fun. And thanks again. Norma

Even with the unexpected problems, this site is having a wonderful impact on many people and you are making a tremendous difference for a lot of people. Bringing lonely, ill, scared people to a place of comfort is a wonderful heroic thing to do, thank you! You deserve a month long birthday party!! Hey, from this side, thirty six is still a baby!!! Hey Birthday Boy! How lucky we are to be able to celebrate birthdays for a week, a month, and all the days till the next b-day. The older you get, the more you should appreciate each beautiful, healthy, joyous day. I think you really do take pleasure in the days, and you are trying to make the world a better place for your wife and kids, your family, and the world as a whole. Your efforts are noticed and very much appreciated.
