Wow. The 'DailyStrength Diet' is actually working. I haven't seen the 170's since March of this year (trust me, I weigh myself every morning, so I know), and it feels good to be back in that range again.

To date, I've lost ~6 pounds, and I'm aiming to lose another 10, which should get me back into pre-children weight (yes, I'm a man, but having kids makes us gain weight too). There are two things I'm really liking about this "new" diet:

1) Talking to y'all about it. I'm proud of what I've accomplished, and, frankly, I want to brag a little bit, as it's hard work. And, as I've said before, I want to show all of you that I can do this, and not report failure.

2) I hope I've created a sustainable diet. I'm exercising 2-4 times/week, and I'm simply eating less crap. Doesn't seem too crazy. No fancy formulas or magic potions.

On an unrelated but FAR more important note, today is Rach's day, and my diet issues are not the focus of this day. My mother (amama) showed up at my house this morning wearing purple, as am I. Now I've worked on the Internet for more than 10 years, so it doesn't often amaze me, but to think that a mother and son in California are wearing clothes in honor of a teenager in Australia that they never met...well, that's pretty cool.

Rach, wherever you are, today we think of you.

Thought of Rach today, and I told everyone I saw that I was wearing purple for a young woman who touched my heart, who lives halfway around the world, and whom I never met. Hugs to her family.

Congrats Doug and thanks for the site. without your imput we\'d never have gotten to know Rachel and Linda. Just think-- 5 states where people so far from them were all wearing \'purple\' in her memory. Good Job
