wow, weekends are tough.

the good news is that i played soccer for the first time in many years. a friend from my daughter's school plays on a men's league, and despite being very concerned about both my stamina and skills, i made it out at 9AM sunday for a game.

the bad news is that i pulled something in my calf, and had to take myself out after about 8 minutes. i don't think it's anything that requires a doctor, but it felt really odd, like something had snapped, and i didn't want to push it. still, i ran (slowly) this morning. i'm hoping it's just less sore, and then i can stretch out before the next soccer or ultimate game.

on the food side, also good and bad news. i survived the two fancy meals pretty well - avoided dessert and appetizers at both meals - but succombed to a kid's meal and some french fries. seems like control isn't an issue when i'm out with adults, but harder when i'm with the kids. my biggest challenge for this entire project will be avoiding the carbs...

overall, i think i'm making decent progress. i actually felt motivated to run this AM, and managed to haul my ass out of bed to do it.

i've been amazed at the positive feedback and support from all of you, and, as i said before, having an audience is very motivational. i want to hit this goal because i want you all to see me succeed with your help.

so another week begins, and i think i'll be pretty disciplined on the food front, while the exercise may be a bigger challenge. still, i'm hoping to leave this week around 180.

thanks for all your support.
