to my wife on our 7th anniversary:
it's ironic that i'm writing you this note now, as you and i don't usually celebrate this anniversary (we prefer to celebrate our first date), but emotion has overcome me, so i thought i'd run with it. i have also realized that technically i'm not writing you, but given your love of streaking, i figure you wouldn't mind if i post my thoughts for all to see.
anyway, i thought i'd just tell you how excellent and amazing the last 7 (ok, actually 11) years have been, and how you're the missing piece to the never-ending puzzle of my life, and how i miss you whenever i leave the house, even for an instant, and how i find my kids to be so darn cute mostly because they look like little versions of you.
(that, by the way, is probably the most pathetic run-on sentence i've written in some time).
to think that we're really just at the beginning, and that we have so much more of our lives to figure out, navigate through and discover. ah, the joy.
and so tonight, when the kids are in bed and all the trashy gossip mags are read, we'll turn off the lights and gently touch toes as we fall asleep like we usually do. and that's not a bad way to end any day.
happy a-day.
