The weekend
I am going to be grateful today. Although my weekend had some minor bumps overall it went well.
I survived my birthday, always a little awkward, but everyone came to dinner, which I wasn't expecting. Had all my sons and girlfriends too. My sweet soon to be daughter in law knows I don't do cake on my birthday as we just had cake for my son so she baked me a really yummy plate sized ginger snap cookie.
I got presents from both the girlfriends and my son decided to bring me something too. (Usually they just give me Mother's Day gifts).
Sunday my middle son had to work, but my oldest son stayed for church with me. Haven't had him at church for 4 years so it was very nice. He stayed a bit after and visited, but then went home. Was just me, hubby and youngest for dinner and no one did any of my usual Sunday house cleaning or mowed my yard despite my hints.... Oh well hubby never manages to make me feel special on Mother's Day. There is a reason my children struggle with it. Bad example.
Then on Monday since we didn't get together on Mother's Day we went off to a play. Had everyone again. That was very nice. Really did get to spend a lot of time with my children this year. And actually felt like I had Mother's Day and my birthday both. It was good.
Back to normal life (and work) today.
