Gave a speech yesterday and the concentration - particulary the "be nice to everyone" duty at the end was enough to start a migraine - but I immediately went home, took a nap and a vicodin and successfully avoided the full blown thing.  It is good to begin to understand what makes me miserable.  I also took valium to sleep the night before.  The mind racing before a "performance" is out of control and out of proportion to my conscious feelings.  No amount of meditation or CBT dims it.  So a valium every now and then won't hurt.  I have piles of them and never take them for anything other than the occasional PMS episode or the pre-performance insomnia.  I prefer the occasional valium to more potent and more expensive sleep drugs.  I hate what I hear about Ambien.  ICK.
