Hello, My wife and I are trying to work on keeping our marrage together. She is bipolar and I am trying to figure out how we are going to last as a couple..a married couple not a couple of nuts. She has included me in on her Dr visits which I really need to understand what is going on. When I try to help her around the house and other activities she snaps at me because she needs to do it herself. I do pick up the slack when I see that she is in one of her down moods and then only will she let me do the things she does to keepĀ things together. For her it is a routine that she needs to keep some sort of order in the house and in her head. She will play with the meds she takes , such as not taking them if she has been feeling good for a few days and then crashing because she hasn't taken them. I will never really understand fully what she is going through but I will try as best I can. One day at a time sometimes one minute at a time what ever it takes.

My boyfriend is going through what you are now and it breaks my heart for the two of you. My heart also aches for your wife because I know she wishes things could be easier for you. I would guess that she wishes things were easier for her too. I know I do. This is such a difficult disease to live with. It is so painful. I don\'t want my boyfriend to leaave me, but I don\'t like seeing how hard this is for him. I applaud you and thank you for working so hard to understand and be there for your wife. I am so blessed to have such a good boyfriend. I hope things get better for you and your wife. Thanks for sharing. It made me feel less alone in this. It is hard to understand that this is a disease and not just a personality flaw within me.

I find that the more I know of my wife\'s illness and what my spouse is facing it makes things easier to understand the mood swings and for me not to judge the situation so harshly. I have a lot of hope for our young marriage (we wedd in august 07) she has during one of her manic periods had an affair and after confronting her about it We went to the Dr for some med changes;we are trying to work it out. She really didn\'t have any emotion in the affair and she felt like it was an evil side of her that had taken control. I because I Love her am trying o forgive her for this, it is so hard but I am trying. So if you partner is willing to really read up and understand the illness he might be able to hang in there with you. I know my wife\'s nightmare is if I would leave her alone to her demon\'s she might not survive. So in your time of good moods praise him for being there and hopefully during your down times he will rember these and work through this with you. I know I am on my part and will continue to. Good luck.

I have forgiven her for the affair, she still is playing a russian roulette with her meds though. She has become very parinoid where I am most of the time and will start an argument for no apparent reason. I just ride out the storm and await the calm periods. This gets me into down moods at times and she seems to feed on them. I am a very patient person and am trying to understand if that is possible what she is going through. To eveyone out there who has read these journals thanks for the kind comments they really help and to that one special person who has talked to me a lot lately you are an angel xx thanks for listening
