my mom

My mom's GP was her overseeing physician at the hospital last week.  He put her on high power antibiotics:  IV in the hospital, then orally when she was released from hospital.  The GP did not monitor my mom's liver function, and she developed severe hepatitis because of the antibiotics.  Nor, did the GP give my mom anything to keep the oral dosages from tearing up her stomach, so she went for a week without being able to keep any food down.  When she saw another doctor on Friday, she was severely dehydrated and her blood sugar and blood pressure were both extremely low ...... a weaker person would have went into a coma ... she almost did.  Her blood pressure is holding it's own, but her blood sugar is being controlled through iv injections.
We found out through tests yesterday that my mom also has gallstones.
Her blood pressure and sugar levels are now in acceptable range, but she still can't keep anything on her stomach.  Her liver is improving.  IV administered nutrition begins today.

We have found out in these past few days that she has:
diabetes
antibiotic induced hepatitis   
mercer, cellulitis, and arterial blockage in her left leg and foot  
urinary tract infection
gallstones

Nothing can be done about the arterial blockage or the gallstones until she is stable.
My mom has been seeing the same GP for years. He does regular blood tests on her because of her high blood pressure, thyroid medication, and a few other things.  When my mom went to him with the infection in her foot two weeks ago, he told her she was fine and sent her home.  In my very unprofessional opinion, this doctor should have picked up on the diabetes long ago.  If my mom had known she is a diabetic, she would have known what to watch out for, and all of this could have been prevented, except for the gallstones.  This doctor went on vacation Thursday.   Lucky for him,  because My daughter and I are both sorely tempted to eat him alive ... one slow, painful fork full at a time.  I'd sooner french kiss a rattlesnake than shake hands with that man.
Okay, please pray for my mom.  Also pray that she will have sense enough to ditch this GP and get a real doctor before my brother and I have her declared temporarily mentally incompetent to make medical decisions and take control for her. (She is a shy, timid, soft-spoken, and a nervous person of few words around people she doesn't know very, very well!  My brother and  I are not at all like that.)
Now, I must muster the energy to shower and drive to the hospital.  Off I go!
