Better Day

Got in a really good workout this AM at the YMCA.  Did 36 minutes on the treadmill.  I am up to running 4 1/2 minutes at a time (well, jogging at 4.5 mph.)  Then I walk 3.6 mph for 3-4 minutes, then run again.  The third time today, I got up to 5 1/2 minutes.  That is cool.  In November, when I started, I could hardly walk the 30 minutes and I could only jog for 30 seconds and felt like I was going to pass out.  Talk about couch potato!  I also did lower body weights for 25 minutes and 5 minutes of stretching.  So I am already over 7000 steps and it is only 9AM.  I took the dog for a really nice long walk last night.  41 minutes.  Got that in before it rained again.  Hopefully, since I feel great this AM after that workout, I will have a great day.  I did not sleep well last night and it was really hard getting up this AM. Can't wait to go on vacation.  2 weeks starting this weekend.  Monday we are driving up to Bar Harbor, Maine.  The pictures look beautiful.  Will stay there a few days and then down to our friends' cabin in New Hampshire for a couple of days, then home.  The 2nd week of my vacation will be home.  Will get some things done around here and maybe read a book or two or three.  Have to start making a list of things to pack and get my suitcases up from the basement.  It is nice we are leaving on Monday.  That give me the weekend to pack.  Debating whether or not to bring my work laptop and maybe get a little work done at night.  Not sure what kind of a signal I will get with my air card up there.   Meanwhile, got 3 new fires yesterday.  OMG.  It is so crazy.  And with this economy, arson is up, big time.  Time was (13 + years ago when I started) that I saw maybe 2-4 arson fires a year.  Now, I am getting that many every month!  One I got Friday, the guy lost his job, comes home drunk and lights his house on fire.  We are going to deny the claim, and the guy is in the hospital with 3rd degree burns!  So now, this guy loses his job, his home and his health!  What the heck was he hoping to gain?  And he has a wife and two kids who are now homeless.  I just don't get it.   David was much better yesterday, as was Paul.  Paul is such a super intelligent guy, and yet he is home planting flowers, painting walls, etc.  He needs to do something to stimulate his brain.  I wish he would get a part time job or something, more for something to do than the money, although the money wouldn't hurt.   Oh well, gotta get back to work.
