Well, the vacation was good and bad.  I drove down and it was pretty much 1000 miles of bumper to bumper traffic.  I guess everyone else was off to Florida for the holiday week.  Ugh!  I thought I would never get there.  And 19+ hrs in the car with my ADHD son was sometimes rough.  But we made it.  My dad has been sick.  He has diabetes and glaucoma.  Now his hands are really bothering him.  He says it is nerve damage and he is in constant pain and they swell up.  So he was obviously not a happy camper.  Went shopping with Shirley, my stepmom.  I love her so much.  Bought a very expensive pocketbook and matching wallet.  (Big splurge for me.)  No regrets as I love it but feeling so guilty.  Read 2 books.  Finished reading The Shack.  Very good book.  Learned some depressing information about my brother and sister.  Actually confirmed they hate my husband and talk about me/us constantly all of the time.  They tell my dad how awful we are.  And it is so frustrating that we have been so generous with all of them, and especially their kids and that is the thanks we get.  Watched a bunch of Christmas movies and basically relaxed.  Caught a cold.  Feeling lousy today.  It was there all week- sniffles, sneezing, congestion.  Then 1000 miles home.  Not as bad driving home as going down.  But several accidents and a 17 hour drive turned into another 19 hr drive.   I really missed Kona terribly.  Love my husband.  Missed him as well but I really missed Kona.  We went to see Marley & Me at the movie theater (my dad, stepmom, son and I.)  Bawled my eyes out.  My little girl is so happy now.  Back to her routine of sitting next to me and watching the wildlife out of the window or playing with her toys.  My husband said she kept going to the laundry room to check.  (That is the door I come in.)   Did not get Wii Fit for Christmas.  Everyone sold out.  Now desperately looking around.  With the weather here, I need alternatives to going out for a walk.  Two weeks + and NO exercise and totally off of my diet and ate everything in site.  So gained 2 1/2 lbs back.  But not as bad as I thought.  So determined this week to get back on track.  I feel fat again.  My face is all broken out from the stress.   I am proud of myself for driving down there.  We stopped 1/2 way down at a hotel and 1/2 way back.  but I drove it by myself.  Minus the accidents and delays and traffic, the drive itself was not bad.  4 days of driving though and I am beat.   Now for David:  He had a pretty good week.  No major problems.  But then why would he?  Watching movies, played video games, shopped, swam in the pool, etc.  Now we find his interim report card in his back pack this am and he is failing everything!  We did not discuss it this am.  Boy are we going to discuss it later.  But he had gotten a Zune for Christmas (MP3 player) and we had a discussion about not taking it to school.  He sneaks it in his pocket this am and gets caught.  Starts kicking doors, throwing things.  Screaming "get the hell out of my face."  Paul also found all kinds of open soda cans in the basement of 1/2 drank soda.  All hidden.  He neither admits or denies.  he just smashes things when he gets caught.  So this is going to be a long week.  Trying to get back on track with my job.  Trying to get David back on track.  And I heard that there was a slew of new claims this past week so I am expecting things to be bad over the next couple of weeks. Oh well.  Welcome back to the real world.

Wow what a great journal! Glad you had a good time in Florida and got down and back safe.
Your David sounds like our Matt! He is \'special\' and sneaks and lies also. If a package comes to the house while he is there alone, he will open it and then hide it. And never admit it came! It takes lot so energy to cope! My daughter calls on me to give them a weekend off or in the summer a couple of weeks.
Have a great relaxing week and get rid of the cold.

Wouw, what a crazy journal today! LOL! I\'m glad that you made it back safe, I hear you on the missing your loved ones part. Marley and me was good. I can understand you missing puppy that much more cuz of it. LOL.
I\'m so sorry that David is having such a hard time with his classes and staying afloat in life. I\'m glad that you are willing to stay on him though. What a great mom you are for not giving up on the tough stuff. You are doing great, and will look back at all of it and say it was all worth it. I hope that day comes sooner than later though. Hugs.

Wow, glad you had a safe trip there and back even with the long drive - yuk! Sorry about the family, can\'t please everyone right? Your back and back in action though - you can do it! My hubby got me a Wii Fit but I took it back, have a gym membership and with Jimmy playing the Wii, I didn\'t think I\'d be able to use ya know and then I\'d have to get games for it which costs more money. I like going to the gym and getting out of the house. Sorry about David, that has to be tough. Hope your week goes well and things get back into order. Hugs, kathy
