I feel a little better and a little worse.  I will call David's brother "R".  I spoke with R's mother last night.  I really like her.  We have a lot in common.  I feel bad that she is going through so much of what we went through with David and then some.  But I am hopeful that David and R can get together.  I truly think that David can help his little brother and in return, help himself.  So that was a postive.  But my heart still breaks for his sister "S."  All those years of abuse.  Apparently she is being adopted by someone who already had like 4 kids.  My head and heart just ache when I think about the "what ifs."  What if she was never sent back and I got custody of her 7 years ago?  I just think that both she and David would have been so much better off.  She just turned 10 and is only reading at a 1st grade level.  She just has so many issues.  Even my husband last night was shaken and upset and said that we had to fight to get her.  But I could not do that to her adoptive parents.  I cannot even begin to say how often I had prayed for David's bio parents to get their acts together, but if they didn't that somehow S would come to me/us.  My mom says "Thank God you saved one."  Yes, and I would not trade my beautiful little boy for anything in the world.  He is my true joy in life.  So I really have to count my blessings.  Hopefully, David won't feel so alone if he can have a relationship with is sister and brother.  Apparently there was another child that died at child birth as well.  J, R's mother, said that she googled all of this.  She knew about us over 4 months ago and has been trying to track us down.  I feel cheated.  I think that S was cheated.  I think the system failed these children.  I think the bio parents should be in jail.  I think I am going to have to eventually take some of this pain and energy and become a CASA so I can fight for these children who have no rights.  These kids are scarred for life.  There were "stories" of my son being burnt by cigarettes years ago.  Multiple times.  All of this supposedly came out in court.  Now come to find out that R was burnt on the neck.  Why aren't these people in jail!  I feel bad for women who have had to give up their children for adoption.  But I have no sympathy what so ever for these people who abuse children over and over.  David's sister and brother apparently were also starving and have health issues.  They have been in foster care over a year.  The only reason we found out was due to our relationship with David's social worker.  Again, this just breaks my heart.   OK- focus on my many blessings!

What an ablsolutely heartbreaking story! Yes, this is why I don\'t think I could do foster care. I\'d end up in jail for giving the parents the riot act too many times! How unjust is life when you have to fight to help a child because the state feels otherwise! I can only imagine the greatness S would feel if she would\'ve been able to stay. I\'m really glad though, that you are still trying to keep them together as best as possible, even if they aren\'t under the same roof. What a strong person you are for getting all of this organized and together.
Hang in there, and know that this is not only a blessing for you, but this lives you\'ve touched in these children. ((hugs))!
