Kona got loose for about 15 minutes on Sunday AM to where we could not see her.  My heart just stopped.  I was so worried and upset.  She just ran to the back door like nothing had happened.  My husband yelled at her and then she went in her crate and stayed there for a long time.  I just felt horrible.  I really have to work on "come."  My prior Gordon had problems with this.  It is the breed.  Easily distracted and curious to the max.  I have her microchipped but just cannot take a chance.  She could get hit by a car.  David is doing better.  He has camp this week, so he is having fun swimming and playing basketball with other boys.  Counseling was ok today.  Our counselor is taking these courses to learn about the nervous system and how early childhood trauma affects it.  This explains David's heightened sensitivity to everything when he goes into one of his "Moods."  He just flips out so easily at that point.  And this is also probably why he is easily affected by watching wrestling and playing agressive video games.  He just has a difficult time controlling this and doesn't realize that he is out of control.  He does not recognize the aggitation so to speak in his own body.  If the nerves in your fingers were damaged and you could not feel, you could not recognize when they were burning because they were too close to the stove.  Therefore you get burnt.  Well if David's nervous system is so hardwired to be excited all of the time (which was a safety thing/survival skill for him the first 3 1/2 years of his life), he just does not recognize it gettng out of control.  He just can't detect anything being "wrong" and therefore can't correct it.  Well, I KNEW THAT!  The problem is, how do we get David to recognize this?  What coping skills can we then give him to calm himself down?  Well, I guess that is for next time.  Like I have said before.  7 years with this counselor.  I am not saying it has not worked.  Things are much better now.  But I currently feel stuck.   David baked a father's day cake for my husband, all by himself.  (It was a mix but it doesn't matter.  He did a great job!)  And it was chocolate/chocolate, my husband's favorite and he decorated it too.  Karate demonstration this past Saturday went really well and I bought David a t shirt saying Demo team on it with the school's name.  He is really proud of that t shirt.  We even went out Saturday with some other parents for lunch afterwards to Friendly's.  It was a really nice weekend.   Now the house is a dust bowl.  Hence only the 1st smiley face.  After the leak in the roof (1 big huge leak all the way across the kitchen, breakfast room and family room).  Had to wait for roof repair, which was done a few months ago.  Now had to replace a bunch of drywayll and insulation, tape, spackle, sand, spackle, sand, spackle, sand.....  What a horrible mess!  Everything is out of place.  After that they have to paint.  Paul and his friend are doing it so taking longer than normal.  But hopefully next week will be painting.  Then it will be weeks of cleaning etc to get everything back to normal.  Ugh!  I am going to have to empty all of the kitchen cabinets and wipe them all out and re-wash all of the dishes.
