Well, I guess all of the experience I had with helping my son through his issues is helping me to understanding my new little girl (my new puppy, Kona) and her issues. She has bonded with me and cries if I leave her. She does her business outside and then cries to get back in the house. She jumps at every little noise. I cannot take her for walks on the leash- she lays down on the ground when we reach the end of the yard, or gets around the block and breaks free and bolts home. Was talking with my friends who do rescue who are reassuring me that she just needs time and love and that she has been through so much. I have to remind myself of everything I have been through with my son and why to understand how scared she must feel.
