Where to start? I new to this program. I am adopted, and lately my mind has been on a rampage. A lot of questions pop into my head. Mainly questions, that no one seems to be able to answer. I don't know my birth mother, and have thought of finding her. I don't know where to start, or even how to go about it. Mostly everyone around me is not adopted, therefore it's hard to talk about it, when someone doens't know what it is like. I just want to contact anyone, who is adopted, and can relate to what I am going through. I have a wonderful family, and wouldn't change anything, but I still feel there is a part of me that is not 'complete'. Is that 'normal'? I've known that I was adopted since I was 5 years old, or around then. I am comfortable with it, and feel lucky in a way. Though sometimes I feel alone, like I am the only one who is going through this. I just want to talk to anyone who can relate, so I know I'm not the only one. Thanks.

you sound very grounded and logical. i am an adoptive mom to 2 young girls, but i know they\'re going to be facing the same things.

just to give you an insight, though, as a girl growing up in my bio family, i also dealt with insecurities and feeling like i didn\'t belong. i\'m not sure it\'s only providence of adoptees. i spent my whole life feeling like i was odd man out - i\'ve come to realize that nearly EVERYBODY feels like that, and thru counceling, even those that seem to have it all, those that are popular and friendly. so, just to help you realize it\'s not just any particular segment of the population feels that way. many people that grow up in biologial families, myself included, need counceling, and deal w/ very similar, though differently induced, experiences.

my girls are very young, but i am already formulating plans to create a group support for adoptees to come and, not so much complain about, but support and guide others that are also adopted. I think having a group to \'belong\' to is very important to anybody, everybody.

as a youth, i felt so disconnected i ran w/ the wrong crowd. again, keep in mind i grew up in my bio family... so it can happen to anybody.

hugs to you in your search. maybe in your college you could advertise to get others that are adopted to get together and go to coffee, do other activities, to create a network of other adoptees to begin to form friendships, eh? just a thought.
