Saturday, July 05, 2008 – 9:40 A.M.   I am supposed to go to a birthday party at my sister’s today. It will be a joint party for her grandson and son-in-law. Two things may stop me from getting there; 1) the transportation agency, which keeps messing up my rides, and 2) a malfunctioning door opener that I use to get in and out of my apartment.   I can do about my ride – they get me or they do not. My door opener is another matter entirely. It works much like a garage door opener. I push a button and it automatically opens. Because of the weather, the wood around the door has swollen, which causes the door to get stuck when it tries to open.   For the time being, I have a book propping the door slightly ajar. That will keep me from not being able to get the door open at all. When I leave this afternoon, I will have someone shut the door for me. I am not quite sure how I will get inside upon my return.   I called my sister and left a message asking her to buy a hammer for me.
