Bad Day
Thursday, June 5, 2008 -- 3:15 PM This has not been a good day. I am having a great deal of pain from my left hip and back. The pain increased after I went to Aspen Seating on Monday. That company works on my wheelchair seat. At the time I was there, I was told they put extra padding on the seat itself, as well is on the back of it. When I called today to speak with someone about my back pain, the person denied having done anything to the back of my seat. Here we go with the old runaround again. I saw my physical therapist this morning. It was her opinion that I am going to need additional physical therapy on my back. This means my primary care physician will have to ask Medicare and Medicaid for funding to work on this part of my body. She also said that I might need to see my orthopedic surgeon again as well. Like the old saying goes, "When it rains, it pours." After I was finished with my physical therapy today, I had another bad experience with my transportation. The driver of the vehicle that picked me up parked right in front of the driveway to the physical therapy clinic, thereby blocking anyone from exiting it. The first thing the driver did was to start yelling at me because the clinic did not have a good address posted out in front of it. I said I had been going there for four years, and that everyone else had found me without much trouble. To make matters worse, one of the people who worked at the clinic pulled up where we were because she needed to leave. Since my driver had parked in her way, the other woman got out of her car and told my driver that she should have parked elsewhere, rather than blocking the exit. My driver became rather snotty with her. She said it would have been nice if the clinic had an address out in front of it. The other woman said there was an address that my driver would have seen if she had looked. This argument continued between the two women for nearly five minutes. The woman in her car, finally went back and called the agency that my driver worked for in order to make a complaint against her, which was clearly heard on a lot of two-way radios, which included the one in which I was seated. That only made the driver angrier. Last night there was a terrible storm here. We had thunder, lightning, and hail, along with strong and gusty winds. It got so bad at one point that even the electricity went out. Today was very cold outside with temperatures in the low 50s. A couple of days ago the temperatures had been in the 90s.
