Sunday, May 25, 2008 -- 6:50 PM The last few days have been good. Nothing earth-shattering has happened, but a few positive things did happen in my life. Friday afternoon, the executive director of the Freedom Service Dogs called to talk with me about my going to their agency and taking a tour of it. We talked about one or two problems I might have if I got one of their dogs, and she gave me one or two ideas of possible solutions, which we will talk about later in the week. I have an appointment to see her Friday afternoon. My sister is going to meet me there as well. After that conversation concluded, I called my social worker who was waiting to hear from me. I told him about my other phone conversation, and he was pleased with that. Although I said we still had some problems to work out, he told me to take it one step at a time. He also said that if I wanted something badly enough there would be a way for me to get it. My sister called and said that she and her "friend" would be here the next day to see some movies with me, and that she would bring dinner. I could do without her "friend" but the word "dinner" hooked me. Saturday afternoon, my sister and her friend came over and we watched one video, and then had dinner before watching the conclusion of it. We had a nice dinner consisting of steak, baked potatoes, and lemon meringue pie. All things considered, I thought it was a good deal to put up with her friend in exchange for a dinner like that. Memorial Day is celebrated today. Each memorial day I have a tradition of watching the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race. If anyone knocks at my door, or calls me on the phone while the race is on, they are out of luck. It was a good race even though the person I wanted to win -- Danica Patrick -- failed to do so. She was knocked out of the race near the end when another driver collided with her car. That was the biggest race of the year, although there will be plenty more starting next Sunday. I am going to my sister's house tomorrow afternoon. She is having a birthday dinner for her daughter-in-law. As long as she will have food there, I will be a happy camper. Can I be blamed just because the thought of food goes right to my heart? Quotes for Success: “You have achieved success if you have lived well, laughed often, and loved much.” Anonymous
