Monday, May 5, 2008 -- 9:35 AM Yesterday did not go exactly as planned. That was neither good nor bad. Toward late morning, I started feeling badly, so I took some medicine for my pain and tried to take a short nap. That did not seem to do the job. I then took one muscle relaxer, which proceeded to put me promptly to sleep for three hours. During the afternoon, I tried doing a Yahoo search for companion dogs in the Denver metro area. There were three or four entries, which I checked out online. One or two looked a bit promising, but each of them brought out the question of how I could take a dog out for walks in the snow, as well as getting it outside to do its bodily functions. I have not gotten an answer for that yet, but I am not ready to throw in the towel. There has to be an answer for every question. It is just a matter of doing enough research. I spent part of the evening trying to call a young woman who also attended the Anxiety Group with me. I have been unable to get in contact with her for a couple of months. Her cell phone still rang, and she has a recording on it to which I always leave an answer. The last few times I have called her, my call has not been returned. I do not quite know what to make of that. I am worried about her, and do not know whether I should keep calling. Today I plan on going out, getting a haircut, going to the bank, going to the store and getting some decent donuts, and going to a home health care agency where I used to get my help, and which mostly works for people who have disabilities. I want to talk with either the executive director or the administrator and see whether either one can recommend a good attorney that I can see regarding the accident I had in December. My family feels that after all the physical and emotional pain I have suffered because of that accident, along with all of the visits to doctors and other specialists, including an orthopedic surgeon and a physical therapist, that I should be entitled to some form of compensation. At this time, all I really want is a free consultation. I had a new CNA start with me this morning. I had been worrying about her throughout the weekend because she seemed so short in stature that I did not think she would be able to help me out of bed and into my wheelchair without dropping me on the floor. Every night I kept having visions of her dropping me to the point where I broke a leg and had a bone sticking out of it. That did not happen today. Even though she is less than five feet tall, she is very strong. I no longer have any worries about her abilities to help me.
