Tuesday, April 29, 2008 -- 10:35 AM Yesterday afternoon, someone called from my home health care agency to notify me that one of my morning CNAs would no longer be working with me because of an illness in her family. She said they were replacing her with someone else who would start at 8 AM today. At 7:30 this morning, I heard someone knocking at my front door. To my complete surprise, it was my nurse. She said she was there because one of my CNAs had notified her that I had another medical problem. I was not overly excited that one of the people who helped me would go and tell my nurse about such a thing without even informing me. On the other hand, as my nurse put it, at least one of my CNAs cared enough about me to let her know that something was wrong. After thinking it over, I realized that she was right. While all of this was going on, the telephone rang at 8 AM. It was my new CNA, who could not find my apartment building. She was told how to get here, but a few moments later the phone rang again. She said she was knocking at the door but nobody answered. As it turned out, she was at the wrong apartment building. I know that I have only seen her one day, but after spending some time with her, I think that she will work in quite well. She is very polite, has been working at this type of job for two years, and knows what she needs to do without someone having to tell her. When asked if she was going to just be filling in until someone else was found, she said that she was going to be helping me permanently. I have my fingers crossed that it will turn out well.
