Wednesday, April 23, 2008 -- 11:55 AM Last night, sleep came to me in bits and pieces. I was in what I would call a deep sleep when I heard a knock at my door this morning. At seven o'clock in the morning, I could not quite figure out who that could be. I clicked my remote control door opener, and in walked my home health care nurse -- just who I wanted to see. NOT! She comes twice a week to check on me, as well do various procedures that I need. I had happily forgotten that she would be here this morning. In addition, I certainly did not expect her to be here that early since she is not a "day-person." She is normally just waking up by the time she arrived here, which is usually closer to 7:30. She probably disturbed my sleep, but I figured that I could disturb her in some way as well. I was right. My nurse noticed a small blister beneath my right knee, and decided that it had to be bandaged. I threw a small fit about that. She also said that she needed to call my doctor's office and advise him about it. My small fit grew into a much bigger one when I heard her say that. Who in their right mind could possibly care about such a petty thing as that? She said that if the blister became infected, and she had not notified the doctor about my even having it to begin with, she would get in trouble. Well, as they say, "Every cloud has a silver lining." I am not feeling as worn out today as I did yesterday. In fact, I am almost feeling good. I am feeling some increased pain in my back, but I attribute that to the way my home health care aides put me into bed last night. When I woke up this morning, I could have been confused with a corkscrew. They are going to have to start doing better or else. This afternoon I am going to see my psychologist. She is on my "hit list" for having gotten me involved over the question of whether or not I should get a dog. I do not like making decisions -- especially ones with more than one possible answer -- because they usually end up causing me a good amount of stress. That is what has happened here. I will discuss this question with her some more, even though I have already decided to apply for a service/companion dog.
