Wednesday, April 2, 2008 -- 10 AM   Yesterday afternoon I went to see my physical therapist.  The pain and swelling in both my legs has been decreasing, but it is not yet gone.  For some unknown reason, I am now having much more pain in my back.  My therapist seems to think that this has something to do with my bed and the way I lie in it.  Because I have acid reflux disorder, I have to sleep with the head of my bed in an upright position, and this causes me to slide downwards during the night.  When that happens, my body sometimes becomes twisted like a pretzel.  She is working on a way to try and stop this from happening.   My physical therapist told me that she would like me to continue getting physical therapy once I am through with the therapy I am getting from her.  She says I need to start receiving "passive range of motion" therapy, and that she will talk to my orthopedic surgeon to see if they can arrange for me to receive that (at my apartment) on a regular basis.   I am getting more discontented with the new CNA (who says to call her Key) who cannot seem to keep her mouth closed anymore.  When she came into my apartment today, the first thing she asked was if I was in a better mood than I was yesterday.  I did not think that was very tactful.   My regular CNA (Rachelle) told her they had to work faster because I had an appointment this morning.  Key wanted to know where I was going.  Although there was nothing wrong with the question, I did not think it was any of her business where I was going, so I simply told her it was personal business.  I felt that if I told her I was going to see a psychologist, she would quickly tell everyone at the home health care agency.  I just do not trust her at this time.   I am feeling extremely depressed today.  I do not know exactly what is causing it, but will talk things over with my psychologist.   Quotes for Success:   “Success is not so much what we have as it is what we are.” Jim Rohn

Key would get on my last nerve.
I am sure she means no harm.
This is the norm for her.
Still, that type of individual can be irritating.
Hope you get that bed situation straightened out.

It sounds like you have a really good physical therapist.
I do not know your requirements. But, have you ever considered one of those memory foam mattress pads?
My back would hurt frequently when I went to bed.
I liked the first foam mattress pad I got so much, I went back and got another one. It honestly helps me so much.
I realize that you have to go by certain requirements. Just thought I would mention it.
I am sorry you are so depressed today. To be extremely depressed is not a pleasant place to be.
I know exactly how that feels.
I hope you start to slowly rise upwards again.
Or better yet, it would be nice if the next morning brings resolution for you.
I always feel better after I talk to my doctor, too.
Take care. Be good to yourself. You deserve it.
I think you have been pushing yourself towards many accomplishments. You have put in a lot of hard work.
Another thing, when I do not sleep well, I have depression issues. I hope your physcial therapist can change the problems you are having in that area.
