I have decided to give myself a Gold Star tonight. My neighbor from across the street -- who used to sell me drugs -- came to see me. He wanted to know if I was ready to buy some more crack cocaine from him. I told him NO! I said that I was entirely clean, and intended to stay that way. He said that I had been here before, and had always gone back to the drugs. That may have been, but that is not the way it is going to be now.
That is the reason that I am giving myself a Gold Star. I have regained enough self-confidence that I was able to say NO and mean it. I am not going to give in again if there is any way I can possibly avoid it. I fully intend to stick by my guns!

Awesome, Jim! Have you considered telling this man to not come around you anymore? He just sounds like trouble. Hugs, Dancer.

Sometimes I am just too much of a softie even when it comes to my own good.
I have known this friend for about seven or eight years. Both of us are disabled and somewhat lonely. I know how that feels and just cannot bring myself to tell him to get lost. We are alike in many ways, yet different in others. He is going through a very difficult time in his life now, just as I have.
For the time being, I am just trying to stay away from him, and not talk with him as well. He gets into a lot of jams, and I am fearful that sooner or later, he is either going to be hurt very badly, or end up in prison. He has tried to tell me on several occasions that people who are disabled do not go to prison. However, I know that is not the case. I think the time is coming when he will learn that as well.
thats a very difficult situation and im sure its hard for you to just dismiss him but you are doing it for your own good. I applaud you for taking the steps to change your life and yes there are handicapped people in prison. i worked in one for three years. good luck. hugs/cyndi
