Wednesday -- January 16, 2008 -- 9:35 AM Yesterday I went to see my doctor about my kidney infection. I wound up spending six hours at his office. When I first started talking with him I became very confused about where I was or what was happening. He said I was dehydrated and I agreed to let them give me an IV drip. For some reason I was under the impression that it would only take an hour or two -- not six. The IV drip was extremely cold. It seemed that I was freezing so much I started to shiver. I was asked if I wanted some blankets and I say yes. Before the end of the six hour period, I was covered by six of the blankets, and I was still freezing. I had nurses coming in and out of the room throughout the period that I was there. They kept checking on me and asked me if I wanted to go lie down on a bed. If I had known how long the process was going to take I would have done just that. As it was, I just tilted my chair back and tried to sleep in a semi-upright position. By the time I got home I still was not feeling very good. But upon waking this morning, I seem to be more clearheaded and feeling a bit better. My pain has decreased a lot. I am beginning to think that things may work out for the best after all. I do not have anything planned for the rest of the week. I was told to get plenty of rest and drink lots of liquids, which is exactly what I am going to be doing today. The CNA who came to my apartment drunk during the weekend is no longer working for me. Two other people have also been replaced. I now have the feeling that this home health care agency is really trying to help me in a positive manner.
