I always look forward to an hours' extra sleep on Saturday morning. That is not the way my schedule is set up officially, but my CNAs seem to take it upon themselves to get here one hour later than normal. There was a knock at my door at six-thirty. It was my substitute nurse. Although she is supposed to work in the office (which is where I would like her to stay), she substituted for someone else just for today.
She sat around here needlessly waiting for my CNAs to show up. That was totally unnecessary, but I guess she was trying to get out of doing some honest work. She used to be the Director of Nursing for this agency, but she left that position and went somewhere else. A few months later, she decided to return to the agency, but her position had already been given to someone else, so she wound up being demoted.
After she was finished working with me, and I had signed her papers (without reading them) she went to her car and prepared to leave. She had forgotten one thing -- her car keys!
The CNAs went through the usual routine of getting me up. I then informed them that they were supposed to start making my bed in the morning. You would have thought that I had asked them to do some kind of monumental task. They were extremely upset, but managed to make the bed anyway. That took all of two minutes.
Yesterday and today, I have been trying to reach the person from who I get my bus passes at a discount. I have not been able to reach him by phone, which is very surprising because he is always on it. I have enough passes for two more roundtrips, but I need one more for this coming week. I guess if worse comes to worse, I can always go to the store and pay the regular price, but that will require an extra trip.
Since there is not much for me to do today, I am going to continue reading my mystery book. I hate to put it down because it is so good, but I am putting off finishing it so that I do not get to the end too fast.
