UPDATE -- 5:55 PM My nurse failed to show up again today.  That was as much of her as I could take.  I called her office and told the person who answered that I wanted to talk to whoever was in charge of the nursing staff.  I got pushed around from one person to another, which was not exactly a surprise.   I was finally connected with Debra, who acted as if we were long-lost buddies.  I explained to her about playing tag with my nurse for most of the week.  The Dragon Lady (also known as Debra) tried twisting things around so that I would be the one causing the problems.  I decided that I was not going to let her get by with that today.   She said that if I was having a problem I should have let her know about it.  I told her that was exactly what I was doing by talking to her.  She said I needed to have done it sooner.  I asked how long I should wait before calling the company.  She said if someone was thirty-five minutes late, that I should call the company.  I said that I would do that in the future.  I was then told that the nurse in question would no longer be working for me.  That did not make me very happy, but I decided not to argue about it.   Debra then said that she had heard I was going to leave the agency.  (I knew that some of the people I had told could not keep that a secret, which was exactly what I wanted to happen.)  I told her that I was unhappy being there and that I was sure she did not like me.  Debra said that was not the case.  She said that we needed to communicate better.  I told her that I would reconsider leaving the agency, but that she would have to quit yelling at me and raising her voice to me.  She denied doing that, but I said that she was not telling the truth.  She said if I thought she had been doing that that she wanted to apologize.  I accepted her apology, and said that I would hold off (for a while) on looking for another agency.   She asked how I liked the CNAs who were helping me.  I said that I liked everyone.  Of course, Debra then had to somehow twist everything around again.  Debra told me that I would not have had a problem if I had not let everyone "sweet talk" me.  (She probably hit the nail on the head, but I did not admit to that.)

Geez...sounds like nurse Ratchett, Jim. I think we better call Jack Nicholson to straighten her out! Seriously, I sure hope 2008 brings your the care and caregivers that you deserve and HAVE deserved all along. Why do they keep trying to fit a square peg in a round hole??? If anyone needs to communicate, it\'s them! *lifts coffee cup* Here\'s to a better year Jim.
