I am still not feeling good. Sleep is very hard to come by when I am having so much pain. Today I am going to the store (I have not done that in a few years) to get a new medicine for my pain. I had been taking Vicodin for some back discomfort, but now I am going to get some Percocet, which will hopefully eliminate most of the pain in my left foot leg, and hip, as well as some in my right knee. Yesterday afternoon I received my seemingly daily phone call from the head of my home health care agency. Debra wanted to know what my doctor said when I saw him on Thursday. I gave her a full report but I do not think even that pleased her. While we were talking, she happened to let it slip that she was tape-recording our conversation. I was somewhat unhappy with that, but did not let her know. I did advise her that if she had been doing that regularly, it meant that she'd been breaking the law because it was illegal without telling the person who she is tape-recording. She asked ifI had a problem with it, and I said no because I was not the one who had something to hide. The company has found a new person to become my PCP. She was start today and be doing all of my cooking and cleaning, as well as getting groceries and medicines for me. They forgot to get someone to do this yesterday, so one of the people working in the office was supposed to get dinner for me last night. I said all she had to do was to reheat some food that my sister had left for me. It would take about one minute. The girl who was supposed to do my dinner last night called to say she did not have enough time to be making meals. She said she would pick up something for me at a fast food place. I agreed to that. It took her three hours to get here. I wound up getting my dinner at 8:30 PM. Today will be the first time that I have actually gone out to get my own groceries in about three years. I am feeling somewhat anxious since I will be going to a new store and meeting new people. I do not like to ask people to help me, but I will have no choice about this today. I guess that if I have done it once, I can get used to doing it again. Because of the ride I am taking to the store, they have limited the amount of groceries I can get. I will not be permitted to have more than three bags full. I am already scheming about various ways to get around that limitation. I should be able to hide one or two bags in a backpack that I carry on my wheelchair. If that works, that will increase the amount of bags I will have with me to five. I figure that what they do not know will not hurt me. I will write another journal entry upon my return home sometime this afternoon.
