The afternoon has not gone as expected.  Neither did the morning.  I would not be surprised if tonight follows the same pattern.

About 10:30 this morning, I was talking with my sister on the phone when I heard a persistent knocking at the front door.  I tried ignoring it, but that did no good.  Before long, there was the sound of a key being inserted into the lock and shortly thereafter, someone walked into my room.  It was my nurse.  She had let herself in using a special code to get past the lockbox on the door. All she really wanted me to do was to sign one paper indicating that she had seen me yesterday.  I do not know what was so important that she could not have waited until the next time I saw her, which will be tomorrow morning.

I had a ride scheduled to take me to get my wheelchair fixed this morning.  It was supposed to have gotten here at 9:45 AM.  By 10:15, it had still not arrived.  I became angry because I knew that I would never make my appointment on time.  I called the transportation agency and asked what happened this time.  They said the driver had knocked on the door, but no one answered, so the driver left.  I tried telling the dispatcher that they were two buildings here with the same number, and that the driver must have gone to the wrong one.  The dispatcher did not seem to understand the situation, which did not surprise me at all.

After that, I received an e-mail from my social worker asking me if I had heard from the company about making repairs to my chair.  I wrote her an e-mail explaining what had occurred this morning.  Unless she does some more prodding on my behalf, I doubt if I will hear from that company anytime soon.

During the conversation with my sister, we had a lengthy discussion concerning my getting a cell phone.  She said things had gotten out of control with her daughter and our sister-in-law, and my sister felt that I should go ahead and get whatever cell phone I thought I could use the best.  She said the others in the family did not fully understand some of the problems I have using my hands.  I am pleasantly surprised at my sister's attitude and that she seemed to fully understand my situation. smiley-smile.gif
