I should explain here that I have the utmost respect for doctors, nurses, and other professionals within the medical field. Without their dedication and perseverance, I would probably not be living at this time. The comments I made yesterday toward one nurse who I referred to as "Satan's Mistress" were not directed to anyone but a specific nurse with whom I have had a great deal of trouble since joining a home health care agency within the community of Denver, Colorado. My inquiries at my doctor's office concerning statements made by this nurse proved that she had been lying to me for more than a month. New doctor's orders have been sent to her (again) laying out specific details of some of the care I am supposed to be receiving. Although some of this lead to a lot of confusion last night and this morning, I now believe that the situation will improve. I went to my Relapse Prevention Group last night. The number of members had increased to twelve. I was uncomfortable with the increase in size. Before the meeting, I stopped by the reception desk and informed them of how I was locked within the building last week. The receptionist was shocked and promised to look into it right away. Before my meeting started, the group leader had been informed of my situation and had agreed to stay with me after the meeting until my ride arrived. After the meeting, we went downstairs and he stood by the doors and told me that all I had to do was push on them and they would open. He then pushed on the doors that remained shut. He turned around and pushed one of those handicapped door openers, but that failed to work. He tried another switch that said "exit" and pressed it. The doors remained closed. He kept trying to push the door open but that did not work until another person joined him. Only at that time did the doors open. He looked at me and said that all it took was three hundred pounds of pressure. He tried figuring out what was causing the problem while were outside. I knew that he was not that smart to come up with an answer. He saw another handicapped door open button, and pressed it. The door swung open. He said all I had to do was to tell the drivers who came after me each week to press that button. By then he was ready to go inside the building himself. He pushed the button to go inside, but the doors refused to open once again. I do not know what will happen between now and next week, but I told him that if the temperature was cold then he should not expect to see me because I would not be there. He said he did not blame me. There must be a solution to this problem. It will be interesting to see if anyone can come up with the right answer.
