Last night I attended my first session of the Relapse Prevention Group at the mental health clinic.  As far as I am personally concerned, it was a complete waste of time.  In spite of that, I will give it one more try next week.   I told the man who ran the group that I needed someone to help me run the elevators since I could not reach their buttons.  As it turned out, I got into the elevator without anyone being with me and the door shut leaving me stranded there.  Someone must have finally questioned where I was when they all got up to the third floor and I was not there.  One of the other members pushed the call button and the elevator took me up to where I needed to be.  That was the first problem.  When I tried going to the meeting room it quickly became apparent that my wheelchair was wider than the doorway.  That meant that the meeting had to be relocated to another room.  That solved the second problem.   There were seven of us in the meeting.  Two of the others said that they knew me.  J(ust because we crossed each other’s paths a few times did not mean that we knew one another.)  Toward the end of the meeting, the group leader said that he did not think there was anything he could do to help any of us.  I do not think that is a very positive attitude for a person in his position to take!  If he feels the same way next week, I will contact someone and see if I can change to some other group.   After the meeting, it took me two hours (instead of the usual twenty-minutes) to get home primarily because my driver had to pick up another person and did not seem to know where he was going.  He took a small two-lane road, which meandered throughout the countryside.  It would have been easier, and faster, to have taken an interstate which ran parallel to this road.  At one point, he told his dispatcher that he was three minutes away from his destination, when it actually took him nearly half an hour.  By the time I finally got home, I was very angry.   I have agreed to meet with my sister tomorrow to look at cell phones.  In her book, the word "look" usually turns out to mean buy.  At the very least, I expect to get a free lunch out of her.   Quotes for Attitude:   “Make a game of finding something positive in every situation. Ninety-five percent of your emotions are determined by how you interpret events to yourself.” Brian Tracy

NIce quote, and what an experience with your Relapse Prevention Group, geez, what\'s the guy there for if he can\'t help. I have known people like that, they really urk me, I had a professor who was also suppose to be a practicing Dr of Psychology in some area, insisted that people can not change, I am living proof that people can change, and he was a jackass, he didn\'t like me very much, think he thought I was a jackass too. Also think people who say that are just using it as an excuse to stop trying to improve themselves.

Geeez... Not such good planning and hospitality at that meeting! I mean, holy cow. Holy pig. Holy horse patootie. Someone really needs to think before they act out there.

I like the quote too. I try to make games out of things all day long, or I\'d probably hurt myself with dire intents, I\'m so sick of being sick. Looking forward to hearing about your phone excursion. Hugs.

That experience with your Relapse Group is pretty wild....enuf to cause a relapse...lol. As always, I love your quotes. I\'m getting more and more that it truly isn\'t what happens to us that matters; it\'s how we react to it. Blessings, Dancer.

Thanks for all the comments and support. I am giving the Relapse Prevention Group one more try before leaving. I have had a talk with the guy running the group and will see what changes he makes next week -- if any.

I am also glad to hear that you like the quotes that I include in my entries. Too bad that I did not think of them first! Jim
