6:20 PM Happy Halloween!   In my younger years, I thoroughly enjoyed Halloween.  It was fun to think of what costume to wear as well as thinking about how many treats I could get.  That was probably the thinking of children and teenagers throughout the country.   Nowadays I do not really care all that much for Halloween.  That is probably due to a number of things.  I am no longer a child or teenager (not by a long shot) therefore I no longer have the same anticipations and thrills to look forward to at night.  Occasional violent acts have also made the holiday no longer much fun.   I remember that my father used to look forward with delight to having trick-or-treaters come calling.  He would invite them to come inside the house and then tell them to, "show me a trick and I'll give you a treat.")  I think he got more fun out of it than the children did.   My mother was just the opposite.  I do not think she enjoyed it all that much.  She would never hurt a child (other than me) but she did not go to too much trouble to please them.   Tonight I have seen to it that my doors are locked, the window blinds are closed, and most of the lights are turned off.  It is not that I dislike Halloween, but it is just too hard for me to open the door and pass out candies.  This is one night that I will be a hermit!

Us too... we don\'t live on a safely walkable road. So we waited for the nice salad delivery man and turned off the lights on the poor man before he got back to his car. Hmmm... time for cave Weeble? Hugs to you Jim.

My boyfriend and I decided to have a quiet evening and watch a movie rather than handing out candy. We both wound up eating way too much candy...now my belly hurts....owww... I may be all grown up on the outside but still really just a kid.....Don\'t forget to have fun Jim...life is awfully dull when we take it too seriously. Boo.

Jim,
I know what you are saying about how it used to be a fun thing to do.But the years have gone by and it is not so much fun anymore. When I was a kid we used to go to all our friends houses on the block and get lots of goodies and then we would all get in the car and go to some of the other friends houses in town andusually end up staying at someones place that was having a big party. But it seams like things have changed so much and to many of what I call over aged teenagers are out trick or treating and if you don`t give them what they consider good or not enough then the next morning you wake up to either TP all over the place or graphitti painted all over your house so we just turn out the lights and usually go to bed early. It is not any fun when your out painting your house because some jerk decided that you diidn`t give enough.I guess I am just an old grouch when it comes to this any more.I do hope you at least got to curl up with a good book and got some quality reading in.Later.
