UPDATE -- 6:15 PM

It is strange how I can spend a lot of time worrying about something, and then nothing happens at all.  What a waste of time and energy!

My ex-cook never showed up today even though he said he would be here at four o'clock. In fact, I am thoroughly delighted by the fact that he never appeared.

The home health care agency called and said that a young woman would be here to prepare my dinner and do a few other things for me.  I am accustomed to getting people whose only thought is how fast they can do the work and then leave.  However, this person was entirely different.  Wow!

After she had made my bed, and then made my dinner, I told her she did not have to stay any longer.  She said the company had told her about the problems I had been having with the other people helping me, and then she said that she wanted to stay awhile and keep me company.  I do not think I have ever met such a kind and compassionate young girl as this.  She spent nearly two hours with me.  I told her about my background, and then related some humorous things that have happened during my lifetime.  I called them stupid stories.  She is coming back tomorrow and she said she hoped I would have more of them for her.

I cannot remember the last time that anyone outside my family actually took the time to just sit around and talk with me.  It gave me a good feeling.  I had the feeling that she was interested in me and what I had to say.  Tonight I feel worthwhile.  I have not felt this way in many years.  She said that she is a backup person and that she will be here again tomorrow night.  I am thoroughly impressed with her.  I think that God looked down upon me and gave me an Angel.
