Tuesday, October 16 -- 10:30 AM My Anxiety Group meeting went pretty well yesterday. There were three others in attendance plus our therapist. That beats my being the only one there. We were notified that the clinic has decided to shut down the group at the end of October because of a lack of members showing up. There was a substantial amount of displeasure over this, and the decision will be discussed more next week. If the members feel that they want to group to continue, there is a way to make an appeal. I was told that it should not make much difference to me because my therapist has already reserved a place for me in the Relapse Prevention group. My therapist told us that she felt guilty because she had "failed" me in the group. She blames herself for my having had several relapses during the past months. I do not feel the same way and intend to call her this afternoon and make my feelings known. Whatever happened was my fault and not hers. Our therapist said that the main trigger causing my relapses was my feeling of loneliness. When the other members heard this, they asked me for my phone number, and gave me theirs so that I can keep in touch with them whenever I feel a need for help. She was not happy that I had not accomplished any of the goals that were set out for me. Because of that, she said either I had to attend two NA or AA, meetings or one of each before next Monday, and that it was non-negotiable. I am planning on trying to complete all four of the goals (by Monday) that were set. I am positive that I can do at least three of them, but the fourth one may have to wait another week. I am staying home today, scheduling rides to and from appointments and meetings, and trying to get someone from the complex maintenance department to come and make some repairs. I am also waiting on a phone call -- or e-mail -- from my former home health care agency to see what they are doing about arranging for me to get back with them. OK, time for Weeble Tough Love... If your therapist wants to take on some of the responsibility for your relapses, then let her. And you should take some responsibility too. Maybe this is a cosmic sign that you both need to work on you harder. Try moving past your shyness and CALL SOMEONE when you just want to hear a voice. Call someone and say just that. Then let things unfold as they will. For instance, I would be willing to bet that you would find new friends who like the same music, or like me, who would want to be introduced to music they\'ve not yet heard. And there you go, what about looking into music therapy? You also mentioned in an earlier journal about things you could actually do for yourself, and things you can\'t. How much of what stops you is emotional hurdle, and how much is actual physical limitation, which in your case I understand is substantial. SPEAK UP JIM. Let us know you\'re in need. If one of us can\'t do it all, then let each of us, and those at your sessions each take on a little. Weeble out, shaking your hand and then giving you a BIG HUG.
