This has not been a good weekend.  I saw my doctor Friday, and with two exceptions things seem to be going better.  I have developed another UTI, and have managed to somehow to sprain my ankle.  Such is life.   I came home and felt good for a few hours.  Then I developed some extreme pain in my lower abdomen.  I had the air conditioning on, and even though it felt like a deep freeze here, I had broken out into a sweat.  I also had a bad burning sensation.  Because I must use a catheter, I suspected that it was not functioning right.   I talked with a nurse from my doctor's office.  I gave her my symptoms and told her that I thought there was a blockage in my catheter.  She asked if I had an irrigation kit, and when I said yes, she said that when the paramedics come, I needed to have them irrigate catheter.   When the paramedics came, I relayed the nurse’s instructions.  They said they had rules and regulations forbidding that.  Since that was the case, I had no other option but to go to the hospital.  That involved taking an ambulance.   I was there for six hours while they ran some tests, changed my catheter, and did various other things.  They gave me one antibiotic with a prescription for more.  I told the doctor I needed to be home by 10 PM in order for my caregivers to put me in bed.  The doctor filled out the necessary paperwork and assured me that I would be home within the period that I had mentioned.   As my luck would have it, the ambulance that picked me up was almost two hours late.  The head nurse, arranged to have the paramedics put me in bed once I got home.  This is something that is not usually done, but they did it.   Yesterday morning I was feeling somewhat better, and met my sister at one of the malls for lunch.  I took some buses and somehow managed to get there one hour ahead of time.  I also waited at the wrong entrance, and after my sister had waited for me for 15 minutes, she walked around looking for me.  Before leaving the mall, I wound up buying one book and having my glasses adjusted.   I finally went home even though I had trouble finding a bus to get me there.  I had managed to get the bus numbers confused and spent considerable time looking for one that would never show up that day.  I was able to find another one and things worked out well.   While we were together, I told my sister that I had a prescription for some antibiotics.  She said she would come here today and pick up the medicine for me.  I did not want her to have to come back here today, so being the hardheaded person that I am; I rolled about one mile to the Safeway pharmacy only to discover that it had closed for the evening.  I went home another mile and that meant that by the time I got here I was in a somewhat grumpy mood and tired.  I am now inclined to let my sister get the medicine for me.   I am planning on resting for the rest of today.  I will probably start reading a new book and then watch an auto race on TV.   Quotes for Determination:   "The only good luck many great men ever had was being born with the ability and determination to overcome bad luck."
