Morning What have I done? My decision to change home health care agencies has, quite literally, made me sick. I feel bad and have been told that I look bad as well. It feels like it is very hot in this apartment, but it is actually quite cool here. I am going around as if I am in a fog. There are times when I do not know where I am going or what I am going to do once I get there. I have a lot of emotions running through my veins. Although I usually keep these under tight control, they are running out of my grasp today. Nothing I have done should really make me feel this way. Deep in my heart, I truly know that I have not done anything wrong. However, I feel as though I have turned my back on those who have been helping me in the last three years. I fear that they will think I am ungrateful and worse. This is tearing me apart both physically and mentally. Last night I did something that complicated my life even more. My current home health care nurse (who I am very fond of and will miss terribly) has been looking for a psychologist for me to see. She found one, and last night I spoke with her on the phone. She agreed to see me tomorrow afternoon. After thinking about this throughout the night, I do not think that this is the right thing to do. I have decided to cancel the appointment. There are times when I go with my instincts, and this time they tell me she is the wrong choice. Not only do I feel guilty about canceling the appointment and not seeing this doctor, but I also feel badly for all of the trouble and work that my nurse has gone through for me. I am already afraid to tell her that I am changing agencies. When I tell her that I am not even going to see this doctor, I do not know what she will think of me. I am so upset that it is hard for me to think clearly. My hands tremble as I try to put down my thoughts. I should contact either my nurse or my therapist and talk about the way I am feeling. I cannot do that because it is too hard for me to ask for help. I feel that I have made a mess of my life and now I must sort it out alone. Jim, what your nurse thinks matters, but not to the degree you\'re raising it to. She has to know that this happens in her line of work, with clients such as yourself. And you\'re allowed to grieve an ending relationship. That\'s life. It hurts sometimes and then it hopefully heals. I hope that all your friends here can give you strength and support. Weebs
Hey, the guilt yoou are feeling was ingrained in you by your past abusers. Ihad that too until I figured out who the guilt really belonged to. You abolutely deserve the care that YOU need for YOUR life. It is your life after all. And I can tell you after being a nurse for 20+ years that nurses love to help people and are glad to do what they can to do so. If it is something that doesn\'t work out for the helpee then that\'s ok. Nurses just try to do what they can. If you talked to her she would tell you the same. As for seeing the new doctor, would it be worse to ignore your gut feelings? Make sure you take care of your needs, it\'s important to take care of yourself.
Many thanks to everyone for their support. I am very sorry if I am upsetting everyone. I have just been trying to write my thoughts and feelings. As for is seeing a psychologist, I have decided that as long as I have an appointment tomorrow, I might as well keep it. I am not sure that the building is wheelchair accessible, but I guess it will not take too long to learn that. About a year ago I felt that my life was a total mess. I think I have made a full circle, and that I am now right back where I began. I think I may have made a mistake by asking the new agency to wait until September 1 to start working with me. I now think that two weeks would have been long enough, and that by getting the new people started sooner, it would have eliminated a lot of my anxiety. Jim
Jim,
I don\'t think you\'re upsetting people, at least not here at DS.
But the people who are SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF YOU ARE UPSETTING US!
You are not upsetting.
They are.
And yes, there\'s an echo in here...
